  1. Depends entirely on how crazy they are on a scale of 6-10 (because no farrier is less than a 6, by default)

    1. My farrier is perfectly sane, and the vet hospital says he's the best in NorCal. I don't know what I will do when I move.

  2. I dumped my farrier last fall for several reasons but she had to know it was coming after how she treated me. i just didn't say anything and she msged me asking if everything was ok. I didn't answer and she must have gotten the hint. We were friends at one point too so it's probably a bit different of a situation....

  3. Never dumped a farrier so I really don't know. Our first one when I came to the barn moved, second one decided to become a Sheriff, and we're still on the Third one since I started riding at this barn, and I'll probably move before he quits.

  4. I was dumped by my farrier after Murray fruck out during an attempt to put on hind shoes, and farrier was like "take him to someone else if you want hind shoes" and I was like "great, thanks!!!!!!!" and never called him again.

  5. I dumped one via text and one via phone. Technically, I guess I also dumped one by taking myself off the list many moons ago.

I just don't like to do it in person.

  6. I think the best way would be by phone or in person, but thankfully I've never had to do it. Well I kind of did? When I first got Dino I wanted to use the guy who was the barn's farrier, so asked the BO to let me know when he would be out next so I could meet him, etc. before having him trim my pony. He ends up coming out unannounced, TRIMMING MY PONY WITHOUT ANY INSTRUCTION TO, leaving, and then never answered my many phone calls and voicemails in my attempt to speak with him/give the man payment for the job he did. So he never got paid, I never actually met the guy, and I hired a different farrier.

  7. I dumped both my farriers through my BM because she took care of the scheduling, and she had bigger balls than me.

  9. i don't make farrier decisions for my horse... but love her farrier all the same so no changes needed there. my friend however has been through the wringer and had to dump a couple farriers. she HATES it. i *think* she did it via text or phone, but ended up having another in person conversation too (not bc she wanted to). i think it's probably like ripping a bandaid off tho. it's gonna suck but once it's done it's done. good luck :(

  10. I dumped my last farrier via text because that's always how we communicated. We scheduled and discussed everything via text, so I texted him and told him "thanks but no thanks"
